Last Thursday Ben and I had the opportunity to meet up, run, get to know, share and drink with a rising star of the Snoqualmie Valley, "The North Bend Beer Runners"! We were excited to gather with other like-minded people, who enjoy the beauty of the Valley, the community of running and sharing a frosty beverage. We got a sitter for our son Leif and met at 6:30 pm on a WINDY and blustery evening up on the Ridge at Infusion Bar and Grill. Upon arrival, we encountered 40 runners festively dressed in holiday garb. These folks seriously go the extra mile with flashing Christmas-light necklaces, ugly sweaters, a blow-up Rudolph and even a Santa hat with a beard! The season of giving was in full-effect as everyone brought underwear to donate to SVSD students

As the holidays are approaching “The Heart of North Bend” will be collecting and promoting the sharing of canned goods and other food items with our local food banks! I know that the holiday hustle and bustle has already begun in our home… literally I had to do a double take when I realized on Monday that Thanksgiving was next week! As I thumbed through cookbooks and planned all of the delicious food that we will share with family, I reveled in the closeness that our loved ones will provide around the dinner table. While making my shopping list, I was reminded that holidays can be hard and often lack cheer for those in need.

This morning, I got to have coffee with Blake from Blake's Mobile Detail and afterwards I got to see what this incredibly convenient service was all about. As I worked from home, Blake tended to my car in my driveway and now it looks just a beautiful as the day I bought it. This saved me travel time, money $$ and time waiting for my car to get detailed at the dealership (which is where I have gone in the past for this service). As the median age of the U.S. owner-occupied housing climbs higher, analysts believe it signals growth for the remodeling market. Old structures normally require new amenities or replacement and repairs of older components, they explain.
"Rising home prices also encourage homeowners to spend more on home improvement," noted Na Zhao, senior economist at the National Association of Home Builders. Aging-in-place boomers are also expected to bolster spending on home improvement.
Citing data from the 2016 American Community Survey, the National Association of Home Builders noted half the homes in the U.S. were built before 1980. The median age of owner-occupied homes is 37 years,

For the first time in nearly two years, the Seattle area no longer leads the nation in home price increases. The monthly Case-Shiller home price index, released Tuesday, showed Las Vegas now claims the title as the nation’s hottest housing market.
The Case-Shiller numbers don’t reflect the full scope of the slowdown however, do in large part to the fact that it includes a three-month moving average through June (things have cooled even more since then), and also because it reflects the entire metro area (Pierce and Snohomish counties haven’t slowed down quite as much as King).
