Three SVSD Schools Earn Washington Achievement Awards
FCES, SES and TFMS students and staff receive State’s highest honor…
Three Snoqualmie Valley schools—Fall City Elementary School, Snoqualmie Elementary School and Twin Falls Middle School—have been named among the State’s highest performing schools. Each of the schools has earned a 2014 Washington Achievement Award from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education.
“I’d like to congratulate the students and staff at Fall City Elementary, Snoqualmie Elementary, and Twin Falls Middle School for earning this special recognition. The staff in each of these schools have been working very hard to develop programming, build systems, and deliver instruction which inspires learning and growth in all students. Consequently, achievement levels in these schools continue to trend upward. Our aim is to bring out the best in each and every student. These three schools are exemplars in that regard,” said Snoqualmie Valley School District Superintendent Joel Aune.
Washington Achievement Award winners are selected using the State Board of Education Revised Achievement Index and are based on statewide assessment data for the three previous years. The award is given in six categories: Overall Excellence, High Progress, Reading Growth, Math Growth, Extended Graduation Rate and English Language Acquisition.
In Snoqualmie Valley, schools were recognized for the following achievements:
- Fall City Elementary School—Overall Excellence and Reading Growth
- Snoqualmie Elementary School—High Progress
- Twin Falls Middle School—Reading Growth
“Honoring successful schools is one of the most important things we do,” said Randy Dorn, State Superintendent of Public Instruction. “We know schools are doing great work and are getting better at serving all students every day. We may not be where we want to be, but we are making progress. These awards celebrate both achievement and growth.”
The award-winning schools will be honored at a ceremony on April 28 in Spanaway, Washington.
This is the sixth year of the Washington Achievement Awards. Click here for more information about the award criteria and list of 2014 winners. http://www.k12.wa.us/EducationAwards/WashingtonAchievement/
